Hello! My name is Stephen.
I have graduated in Fine Art having studied at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. I live and work in Anglesey, North Wales, taking my inspiration from the wild nature of the area. I have lived on Anglesey for most of my life.
In addition to the wilds of North Wales, I am smitten by the contrast of Catalunya. Spurred by a love of this place and its people, I am studying Catalan and Spanish. Recently I have been exploring fantasy art. As a result of being introduced to Dungeons and Dragons, I am enjoying discovering how to create or alter artwork digitally. It is been an opportunity to develop my skills with drawing figures; helping me to further diverse my skills.
I have also obtained a Merit in Plumbing. I enjoy taking opportunities that will let me learn how to use new materials and tools. I have enjoyed learning how to work with copper and steel and the process of joining. I am glad that I learned and developed these skills as I will be able to apply them to any future artwork.
I took part in a community art project in silk painting. The final outcome of the project was the production of an art installation in the Library of Wales in Aberystwyth on the theme of local identity. I found the medium vastly different from other two-dimensional mediums. The behaviour of the paint was chaotically exciting. It is a new way that physics is applied to art. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring silk painting.
My work can be found for sale to Anglesey Good Gifts and other outlets in North Wales.
(Anglesey Good Gifts is a non-profit Rural Crafts Centre.)
Last year, I exhibited at Caban, Brynrefail, Llanberis in July 2017.
